The Climate Change Investment Initiative (2c2i) is a joint commitment between É«ÖÐÉ« and its philanthropic arm, É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation, to invest in and cultivateÌýmeaningful partnerships with start-ups focused on advancing climate change mitigation, adaptation and resiliency efforts, while also promoting social equality and economic prosperity, in É«ÖÐɫ’s service territories. .

Through the combined resources of É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation ($10 million equity investment commitment) and É«ÖÐÉ« (up to $10 million in-kind service commitment), 2c2i supports innovative start-ups that catalyze solutions to climate change challenges within É«ÖÐɫ’s major market areas, while advancing social equality and economic prosperity.
Upon selection, 2c2i start-ups realize a number of benefits to accelerate theirÌýventures while delivering real-world impact. These benefits include:
- A minimum of $100,000 equity investment from É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation
- In-kind services from É«ÖÐÉ«
- É«ÖÐÉ« commits to work with each selected start-up on an Impact Project

- Sustainability:ÌýThe extent to which the company demonstrates a clear and measurable tie to either climate change mitigation of GHG emissions and/or adaptation to specific climate change threats in-line with the city climate goals/initiatives.

A minimum equity investment amount of $100,000 and can range up to $300,000.
The É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation will make investments utilizing different transaction structures as deemed suitable. Options will include direct common equity,
preference shares, debt and convertible securities including SAFE Notes.

The É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation supports innovative math and science education programs which inspire students to pursue careers in the energy field. These programs include The É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation STEM Academy, Boys to STEM Academy, Cal Ripken STEM Centers and Energizing Student Potential (ESP).
Powering a better future starts with empowering young people with the knowledge and resources needed to help fuel their dreams and curiosity for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation STEM Academy, Boys to STEM and Chris Crane Memorial Scholarship
The É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation STEM Academy and Boys to STEM are designed to inspire and equip the next generation of leaders in STEM fields. In partnership with NEED, the Academies hosts young women and young men in 10th & 11th grades for a week-long curriculum in the Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington DC and Baltimore. The STEM Academies offer a free, week-long curriculum including a series of climate-focused STEM challenges, conversations with leaders in STEM, and mentoring sessions with É«ÖÐÉ« employees. The program provides a gateway toward energy career paths that É«ÖÐÉ« offers ranging from engineering to cybersecurity and beyond.
Through a competitive scholarship program for current or former attendees of the STEM Academies, the É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation awards full scholarships to outstanding students pursuing STEM-related fields at post-secondary institutions through the É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation Chris Crane Memorial Scholarship program.

Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation Partnership
The É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation launched a partnership with The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation to bring STEM centers to 81 elementary and middle schools in É«ÖÐɫ’s service areas over the next three years. The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation has opened over 607 STEM Centers nationwide, gifting children in communities across the country a new access to state-of-the-art technology, hands-on learning experiences, and skill sets essential to the future of STEM.

Energizing Student Potential
The Energizing Student Potential (ESP) program is a collaborative STEM initiative combining classroom activities with a school energy audit by students, a student-run energy fair and an energy-focused STEM challenge. Teacher Training Workshops cover a variety of energy topics including the Science of Energy, Forms and Transformations, Energy Sources, Electricity, Transportation, Climate Science, Energy Efficiency and Energy Careers.
